District Coordinating Committee on Promotion of Volunteer Service
In September 1997, Social Welfare Department established
the Central Office for Volunteer Service with the purpose of promoting,
expanding and coordinating territory-wide volunteer work systematically
with the assistance of a computerized database system on volunteer information
and a Volunteer Service Enquiry Line.
At district level, each of the 11 districts of Social Welfare
Department formed a District Coordinating Committee on Promotion of
Volunteer Service with the functions of promoting the territory-wide
Volunteer Movement, formulating district strategies based on their own
characteristics and coordinating district resources so as to raise the
public awareness on volunteering.
