Serving Our Community

I joined the Fire Services Department Volunteer Team more than one year. I have participated in various volunteer services including helping the battered spouses move to their new residence, organizing cranial, fund raising, youth outreaching service etc.

Amongst the past volunteer activities, the "International Rehabilitation Day 2003" programme held on 7.12.2003 impressed me and my fellows the most.  The event was attended by 1000 guests including disabled persons.  The outstanding disabled persons were awarded by the officiating guests.  Their experience sharing enabled me to understand more about the hardship and courage of the disabled persons.  In the event, Fire Services Department mobilized more than 80 staff as volunteers to help decorating the venue and escorting those on wheelchairs to walk around the Gold Bauhinia Plaza.  The event was ended in fun and joy.  Our enthusiastic participation was recognized by the officiating guests.

To love or being loved is so beautiful and treasurable.  As the firemen, we should demonstrate our courage, braveness, helpfulness, and sense of responsibility in our work as well as in serving our community.  It is no doubt that joining volunteering is one of the best ways to spread the spirit of mutual care and concern.  I sincerely hope that more colleagues would join us in the near future.
