About Volunteer Service
|
About Us Within the Social Welfare Department, a central office for Volunteer Service was set up in September 1997 to develop volunteer service in a more coordinated manner though the launching of a Volunteer Movement. A computer database to capture information on individual and corporate volunteers and a Volunteer Service Enquiry Line was established to facilitate volunteer development. A District Co-ordinating Committee on Volunteer Service was set up in each of the 11 Districts under the Social Welfare Department to assist in implementing the strategies of the Volunteer Movement. The Committee will also take into account of its own characteristics and needs to coordinate the resources in promoting and enhancing the development of volunteer service in the locality. Under the 11 District Co-ordinating Committees on Volunteer Service, the Social Welfare Development also set up the Designated offices on Volunteer Service in each of the 11 Districts. They will provide assistance and support to agencies or organizations having interest to set up volunteer teams and newly teams at the locality. To contact us:
