Organization Chart District Coordinating Committee on Promotion of Volunteer Service In September 1997, Social Welfare Department established the Central Office for Volunteer Service with the purpose of promoting, expanding and coordinating territory-wide volunteer work systematically with the assistance of a computerized database system on volunteer information and a Volunteer Service Enquiry Line. At district level, each of the 12 districts of Social Welfare Department formed a District Coordinating Committee on Promotion of Volunteer Service with the functions of promoting the territory-wide Volunteer Movement, formulating district strategies based on their own characteristics and coordinating district resources so as to raise the public awareness on volunteering.
