International Year of Volunteers 2001
The United Nations has proclaimed the year 2001
the "International Year of Volunteers" (IYV) with the objectives of enhancing
recognition, facilitation, networking and promotion of volunteer service.
It is for volunteers of all ages, all languages and culture, and for those
who administer volunteer service. All countries over the world are encouraged
to commemorate this significant event.
To echo to this global event, the Social Welfare Department (SWD) of Hong
Kong has organized a series of territory-wide promotional and publicizing
programmes through the Task Group on IYV 2001 which comprises members
