Volunteers use the materials (e.g. retired conveyor belts, cutting tools, coal ash) from the CLP Castle Peak Power Station to renovate and refurnish the Home of Loving Faithfulness. The volunteers skillfully removed the weeds, broken fence and dangerous switch-box in the abandoned land of the Home. Creatively, they rebuilt the area into a small garden. The volunteers also brought the kids of the Home to visit their Power Station to understand the operation of an Electricity Plant.

The volunteers of EastPoint visited the seniors in the elderly home every month. They read newspapers to the seniors and organized interest classes for them.

Volunteers become the mentors of the seniors. According to the interests of the seniors, they organized training courses, including Magic, Putonghues, English, Health Promotion, etc for the seniors. A ceremony was held as a kick-off of this mentoring relationship.

Volunteer also accompanied the seniors to visit Cyber Port, one of Eastpoint¡¦s management properties. Together they designed a poster which conveyed the message of love and respect towards seniors and promotion of community integration. The posters were posted in 300 residential estates under the property management of the Group.

The Company Programme runs annually from September to April. Under the guidance of volunteer business advisers, the upper secondary students ran a company, including raising capital, electing management team, product production/service implementation, and liquidating the company in the end of the programme.

The business advisers included specialists of finance, accounting, marketing, human resources and IT. They met the students every week to monitor the work progress and shared their working experiences.

Each "student company" set up their booth to sell their products in the Company Programme Trade Fair held in HSBC Main Building. They also presented their business results at the Company Programme Graduation Ceremony held in April

Believing that environmental education should start in early childhood for the best results, NWS Holdings Limited and Green Power jointly launched Green Kindergarten Network, the first environmental education programme for pre-school children in Hong Kong. By providing kindergarten teachers and students with environmental education and field trips, the network aimed to nurture environmental awareness among the young generation.

NWS Volunteer Alliance provided sponsorship and deployed business resources to support the environmental activities. Green Power developed teaching materials and training programmes that met the needs of kindergartens.

More than 3 100 kindergarten-students and teachers participated in the kick-off programme. With the assistance of volunteers, they produced the world¡¦s largest handprint painting on a 3 800 sq-ft canvas which also broke the Guinness World Record. To spread the message of nature conservation, the handprint was displayed in one of NWS Holding¡¦s management property, the New World Centre.

To raise public awareness, two green education buses of New World First Bus and Citybus, subsidiaries of NWS Holdings, were launched. Other activities included production of teaching materials, volunteer training, teachers¡¦ workshop and visits to plant nursery, etc.
