Launching since 1998, the "Volunteer Movement" commenced by Social Welfare Department, aims to promote volunteering in all walks of life. The "Sub-committee on Promotion of Corporate Volunteering", under the auspice of the Steering Committee on Promotion of Volunteer Service, encourages and assists corporations to set up their staff volunteer teams and utilize their specialties to help those in need. By volunteering, companies also develop better relationship with the community and build up stronger team morale.

The participating organizations can nominate the volunteers under their organizations for the awards according to the yearly accumulated number of service hours served. Organizations may also be awarded the certificates according to the service hours accumulated by their members. Other awards include Highest Number of Hour Served, Long Service Award etc.
